Review : Sherlock Holmes
Guy Ritchie’s directorial venture Sherlock Holmes is very inventive and sometimes exhilarating with a power packed performance from Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. This famous detective is now a street fighter with major self-esteem issues but still puffs on his pipes and is also a lousy roommate. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law make a perfect winning combination with terrific action and one would easy neglect the flaws in the plot. The opening action sequence is a blast with some extraordinary stunt sequences that make a feast to your eyes. After this awesome fight scene during which we witness Holmes plan every blow he will land on his nemesis before the action plays out exactly as he predicts, Blackwood is incarcerated and put to death by hanging.

Blackwood strikes a resemblance to Lord Voldemort and returns from the grave to seek vengeance on the government and terrorize the streets of the city. Holmes is determined to find out what the heck is going on and Watson’s impending marriage becomes more of a issue. Holmes does his nest to mak ehim realize that his girl frien dis not a perfect one for his marriage. This plot is sort of mundane but it seems very very funny. This movie is more interesting for the fact that we see a new Holmes hitting the enemies with a bang rather than the usual mystery we see in Holmes movies. Downey with his british accent puts all the hollywood actors to shame whtn his impeccable comic timing and the way he captures accents. Strong delivers ample menace as Blackwood and although he feels a bit like villains that we have seen many times before. If this movie has a weak link, it is the normally reliable Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, Holmes’ mysterious love interest; McAdams seems a little overmatched this time out.

Law brings a good amount of mischief and grouchiness to Watson that makes him much more than an average sidekick. Ritchie has provided his best film making to date. Also credit should go the art direction, cinematography anf the music score given by Hans Zimmer. The best reasons to watch this movie is Downey and the wondeful combination with Law. The strength of the performers have outplayed the story and one would really not care of it. This movie runs for a time of 128 minutes and is presented by Warner Bros. This movie is definitely worth a watch for the stunning performances and some breath taking sequences.
